Kozmo - crossed over to the bridge 10/14/07
Kozmo's owner writes "We find our lives so empty without you.  You brought to us
your sparkling personality which touched our lives so deeply.  Little did we know what
a blessing you were to us.  Thank you for being there when we needed you."
on her back to wriggle and snort and make eskie snow angels.  She also enjoyed chasing anything that moved in
the backyard, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, etc.  Luckily she wasn't fast enough to actually catch any of them, just
chased them out of HER yard.  She also had three doggie buddies on the other side of the fence that she would
run and run with along the fence line.  There is now a rut running all along the fence.  My favorite thing was the way
she would sleep on her back with all four feet in the air tight up against me in the BIG bed.  Sometimes I would find
myself with very little room, but of course I couldn't disturb the princess's sleep.  I only had the joy of Molly's
presense for a year and a half before autoimmune hemolytic anemia took her from me, but I wouldn't trade that
time for anything.  She was a wonderfully sweet and loving dog and will be greatly missed by her sister and myself."
SASHA - Crossed over to the bridge 9/2006
Sasha was just a year old when she came into rescue.  Because of her issues she
never left the rescue program, and instead was "adopted" by the mother of a
volunteer. At just three years old, Sasha was striken by a disease called Immune
Mediated Hemolytic Anemia which took her life suddenly.  Here is what Jen has to say
about Sasha: "She was perhaps one of the sweetest dogs I ever knew. She wanted
nothing more out of life than to have someone to snuggle up to that would rub her
ears and her belly. She had been through a lot in her short life and had issues with
trust, but once she trusted you, you were her friend for life. I am glad we had her in
our lives, and wish we could have her back
SOPHIE - Crossed over to the bridge 6/2006
Sophie came into rescue two years ago when her owner had to go into a nursing
home. She was adopted quickly and had a wonderful life in her new home.  Her owner
writes "You came to me when you were eleven years old, but you were my baby.
Every time I take my shower, I think of you standing guard on the bath mat until I was
finished.  Whenever I was in the house, we were never apart.  I look down and expect
to see you by my feet.  I'll always remember how much you loved your walks at the
Glen, and when I walk there with Dakota, I'll think of you.  You were my special girl,
and I'll love you forever".
ESSIE - Crossed over to the bridge 6/2006
Essie was 12 years old when she came into rescue.  Thanks to the terrific couple
who adopted her, she had two more fabulous years of life. Her owner writes:
"Essie was an exuberant dog that loved running and barking.  She also loved
riding in the car. She and Casper sat in the back seat where they each had their
own window.   Essie was happy and very active until last November when she
became blind within a couple of weeks due to retinal degeneration.  Toward the
end, she slowed down drastically.  It broke my heart to come to the conclusion
that I had to let her go.  Dr. George gave her one shot to make her unconscious;
then another to stop her heart.  Essie died in my arms and my heart broke."
ROGAN - Crossed over to the bridge 5/29/2004
Rogan was rescued from an over crowded shelter on the day he was to be put to
sleep.  We were told he was a friendly dog that liked to be carried around and got
along well with the other dogs.  Once in our home we found out differently.  Rogan
was rather crabby and didn’t like any kind of activity.  He was up for adoption for a
while, but we soon realized there was little chance of finding him a good home and
so he became a resident of our home.  During the two years he was with us, we
grew attached to Rogan and his quirky ways. Rogan’s life was cut short by acute
pancreatitis.  As ornery as he was, we miss him.
FLURRY - Crossed over to the bridge 6/20/2005
Flurry was my first rescued dog.  Her owner bought her from a pet store when he
was in college.  All was well for the first few months, but then the owner moved
home and got a job.  Flurry was stuck in the basement of his parent’s home for 12
hours a day.  She was only 11 months old when she came to live with us, and over
the next 11 years was always a joy to have around.  She was a #1 couch potato
and love sponge and had the cutest little “woo, woo, woo” way of saying hello.  Her
sudden death took us by surprise – the ER doc said she probably had an
undetected heart condition.  Flurry was a very special girl who we miss very much.
DAKOTA - Crossed over to the bridge 10/14/07
Dakota's owner writes "She was the favorite of my kids, and this is hard.  I think
she was the most beautiful dog we ever had, and she had some good years
with us.   Thank you so much for bringing her to us.  She was an incredibly
special gift."
MOLLY - Crossed over to the bridge 4/20/2007
Molly's owner writes "Molly and her sister Mandy came into my life when they were 8 years
old, through eskie rescue in August of 2005.  I had just lost another eskie the month
before and wasn't sure I was ready for a new dog.  Well, somehow I ended up on
petfinder.com and these two just called out to me.  Within two weeks I was making the trip
south (from the U.P. of Michigan) and Joanne was making the trip north to meet in the
middle.  As soon as I got these two love bugs home it was like they had been here
forever.  Molly especially enjoyed playing outside in our abundant snow.  She would dive
head first into a snowbank and come up with her face covered in snow and then flip over
BROCK - Crossed over to the bridge 12/20/07
Brock's owner writes "We are sad, yet have been reliving the short-lived but happy
times we got to enjoy with Brock. He was a handful at first, but once he settled in
some I can't imagine having a better dog. He was gentle, affectionate, fun-loving,
active, and he brought joy to everyone.  We will miss our "Christmas Dog" but hold
the memories of him in our hearts."
NATASHA - Crossed over the bridge 3/18/08
We don't know how old Natasha was when she
came into rescue, but she was definitely a senior.
Natasha was adopted in July of '06 and given a
wonderful home where she
was loved and
pampered for the
last few years of her life.  Her
owner writes: "I am going to miss her cute little face
and the way she bounced up and down when she
was waiting for her meals.
"
ANNIE - Crossed over the bridge 2/2008
Annie was 15-16 years old when she was adopted in March of '06.
Thanks to the kind person who took her in to his home, she lived
almost another two years, happy and well cared for.
